What is Caramoor?

Lawyer, businessman, and philanthropist Walter Tower Rosen purchased the Caramoor estate in 1928 in order to build a summer home. In 1945 Walter, and his wife Lucie Bigelow Rosen, bequeathed the Caramoor estate as a center for music and art. The estate was previously owned by Caroline Moore Hoyt, and named Caramoor after her.

Can I come to the Box Office in person to order tickets?

Yes, you can.  The Box Office hours are Monday through Friday, 10:am - 4:00pm.
On the Saturdays and Sundays when the concerts are held, tickets may be purchased in person at the theater before the performance or through our online Box Office up to two hours before the concert. Click here for other ways to order tickets.

How do I get to Caramoor?

Caramoor is located at 149 Girdle Ridge Road, Katonah NY 10536 in Westchester County 40 miles northeast of NYC.  Click here for door-to-door driving directions.

What will we eat?

Friends of Caramoor, don't rush.  Dine in comfort in the Symphony Court, adjacent to the vine-covered Italian Pavilion and the enchanting Butterfly Garden.  Prix fixe dinners are available to Friends of Caramoor at the Donor level ($600) and above - pre-concert on Saturdays and post-concert on selected Sundays.  Reservations required.  For Membership information,

Caramoor has excellent picnicking grounds, and we encourage you to enjoy a picnic before concerts. Bring your own basket, or order a picnic dinner from Great Performances by Tuesday at 5:00pm for the upcoming weekend.  Cooking is not permitted on Caramoor grounds, nor is post-concert picnicking. In addition, refreshments are available at the Venetian Theater Circle, or in the main driveway opposite the House Museum before all concerts and during intermissions.

What about Parking?

All parking is free, and there is ample parking for all events on Caramoor's grounds.  Please allow enough time to park your car before a performance.  To qualify for reserved parking on Friend's Field, you must be a Caramoor member at the Participant level who has donated $300 or more.  To learn more about becoming a member, click here.

Are there events at Caramoor year round?

Yes! The Summer Festival may be our best known time of year, but exciting events are happening year round at Caramoor.  Visit us in the Fall and Spring, check out our Caramoor Indoors section as well as our House Museum Ongoing Events and Family Music Programs for the entire year.  Browse through the

What hours is the House Museum open for tours?

May 3rd through October the House Museum is open for tours from Wednesday to Sunday from 1:00pm to 3:00pm, with the last tour at 2:00pm.  Tours by appointment only.

What if it rains?

We don't cancel because of rain. Our Venetian Theater offers protection from the elements. In the event of rain or extreme heat, performances scheduled for the Spanish Courtyard will be moved to the Venetian Theater, and all seating will become general admission.

Do you sell gift certificates?

Gift Certificates are available for any amount,
and may be obtained by calling the
Box Office at 914-232-1252.




Should we bring the kids?

Caramoor's grounds sound beautiful!  Can I bring my dog?

We agree that the grounds are beautiful and we'd like to keep them that way. Pets are not permitted at Caramoor! We love them, but they belong at home.

Is Caramoor not-for-profit?

Yes! Ticket sales cover only half the costs of the International Music Festival alone; and the generosity of Friends of Caramoor is essential to sustain and nurture Caramoor. To learn more about joining the Friends--and for information about donor benefits!-- click here.

Is Caramoor handicapped accessible?

Yes. Visitors with disabilities should call the Box Office to arrange seating for Caramoor performances and events.  Also we have parking available for visitors with disabilities.   Upon your arrival advise a parking attendent that you need to be directed to the handicap parking lot.

Caramoor has an infrared assistive listening system for the hearing impaired that may be picked up from the Box Office prior to concerts and lectures.

Are Caramoor's facilities available for rentals?

Caramoor has a limited number of dates available for Weddings and Corporate Events each year. Click here to learn more about fees and facilities.
